چکیده

This letter presents a technique to detect and correct phase errors appearing in interferometric airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems due to the lack of precision in the navigation system. The technique is based on a multisquint processing approach, i.e., by processing the same image pairs with different squint angles we can combine the information of different interferograms to obtain the desired phase correction. Airborne single-pass interferometric data from the Deutsches Zentrum für Luftund Raumfahrt (DLR) Experimental airborne SAR is used to validate the method.

Discussion on the Detection and Correction of Residual Motion Errors in Airborne SAR Interferometry

This paper discusses the detection and correction of residual motion errors, appearing in airborne SAR interferograms due to the lack of precision in the navigation system. Two techniques existing in the literature to detect such errors are presented, highlighting differences and similitudes. The effects of residual motion errors are mainly two: azimuth phase undulations and azimuth registratio...

Comparison of Local and Non-Local Methods in Covariance Matrix Estimation by Using Multi-baseline SAR Interferometry and Height Extraction for Principal Components with Maximum Likelihood Approach

By today, the technology of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) has been largely exploited in digital elevation model (DEM) generation and deformation mapping. Conventional InSAR technique exploits two SAR images acquired from slightly different angles, in which the information of elevation and deformation can be captured through processing of the phase difference of the image...

Evaluating the deformation monitoring capability of a ground based SAR system with MIMO antenna

By increasing the applicability of ground-based SAR (GBSAR) systems in geoscience and remote sensing, the development and evaluation of new systems have gained attention. GBSAR systems can be utilized for monitoring areas that are hard to or cannot be seen by the airborne or spaceborne systems. Furthermore, they have better spatial and temporal resolutions and are cost-effective and easy to imp...

Integrated Data Processing Methodology for Airborne Repeat- Pass Differential Sar Interferometry

Short temporal baseline and multiple ground deformation information can be derived from the airborne differential synthetic aperture radar Interforemetry (D-InSAR). However, affected by the turbulence of the air, the aircraft would deviate from the designed flight path with high frequent vibrations and changes both in the flight trajectory and attitude. Restricted by the accuracy of the positio...

The InSAeS4 Airborne X-Band Interferometric SAR System: A First Assessment on Its Imaging and Topographic Mapping Capabilities

We present in this work a first assessment of the imaging and topographic mapping capabilities of the InSAeS4 system, which is a single-pass interferometric airborne X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). In particular, we first provide a brief description of the InSAeS4 sensor. Then, we discuss the results of our analysis on the SAR and interferometric SAR products relevant to the first flight...
